Hello adults!
I'm here to support you as you support your math 1 scholar. This site is a quick reference for all things related to supporting your young mathematician. I realize that today's math is presented VERY differently than when we all had math in school. I remember math teachers saying, "Do you think you're going to be carrying around a calculator in the real world?"
LOL!! Joke's on them because YES we all do! So today's kids are having to learn how to use math in drastically different ways. That's all Common Core is really trying do. Make sure your mathematician can think critically about math and apply what they know to the real-ish world.
Basic Expectations:
Good news! You should NEVER have to help your student with homework! Let's be honest, most of you would rather have a root canal than repeat middle school math! When we need to know something, most of us search for stuff online. Your student will need to do the same thing - especially if his/her notes are incomplete.
Best regards!
